Overview

Casino Gran Vía occupies the former headquarters of a Madrid merchants' and industrialists' club, a building designed by the brothers Joaquín and Luis Sainz de los Terreros and inaugurated on 24 April 1924. The city's tourism site describes its style as halfway between Spanish Renaissance and French Baroque, with Art Deco details. A marble imperial staircase links the first three floors around an atrium topped by a stained-glass ceiling by the French maker Maumejean. The same building houses the Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, the Círculo Gran Vía restaurant, the Golden View bar, the Poker Room Bar, the Baccarat Cocktail Bar and the Gran Café Shanghai. A permanent exhibition, Memories of Gran Vía, is spread over 15 rooms. The casino is part of the Comar group.2, 3, 4, 5, 6
