The Star Gold Coast

Overview

The Star Gold Coast is a casino resort on Broadbeach Island in Broadbeach, on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Its operator, The Star Entertainment Group, calls it an integrated resort and says it opened in 1985 as Jupiter's Casino. By the operator's account the resort now offers more than 1,000 hotel rooms, suites and apartments, 11 restaurants, 6 bars, live entertainment and a collection of event spaces alongside the casino. The official site lists The Star Grand, The Darling, The Star Residences and Dorsett Gold Coast as the places to stay within the resort.^{1, 2}

The Star Gold Coast describes its casino as a 24-hour casino, and its operator lists it as open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.^{1, 2}

Licence and regulation

Queensland's Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) regulates the state's four casinos, and lists The Star Gold Coast as operated by The Star Entertainment QLD Limited. In December 2022 the regulator took disciplinary action against The Star, which included appointing a special manager, Nicholas Weeks, and a 90-day suspension of The Star Gold Coast casino licence whose start has been deferred several times. On 24 September 2026 the Queensland Government deferred the suspension to 31 March 2027 and extended the special manager's appointment to the same date.^{4, 5, 6}
