Mandelieu-la-Napoule: Hotels & Evening Entertainment
Mandelieu-la-Napoule lies on the Mediterranean between the red rocks of the Estérel and the mimosa-covered Tanneron hills, close to Cannes. The Château de La Napoule, rebuilt from 1918 by the American artists Henry and Marie Clews, is the emblem of the town. The river Siagne runs through it to the sea, and the town counts seven ports. Its casino, the Royal Casino JOA, is on the seafront inside the Pullman Cannes Mandelieu hotel.
The Château de La Napoule stands at the water's edge below Mont San Peyre. A medieval fortress of the Villeneuve family, it was bought in ruins in 1918 by the American artists Henry and Marie Clews, who rebuilt it. Today it houses the Henry Clews museum and a garden, and its owner, La Napoule Art Foundation, hosts artists in residence.1
Mont San Peyre is an 18-hectare park with a 360-degree view over the Gulf of La Napoule, the Lérins Islands and the Estérel. A footpath of 3.4 kilometres makes it an easy walk.2
The Tanneron hills hold what the tourist office calls the largest mimosa forest in Europe, in full bloom in January and February. The town has celebrated its Fête du Mimosa every February since 1930.2, 3
The Estérel massif has 400 kilometres of marked trails for walkers and mountain bikers, bordered by the Corniche d'Or coast road.2
The banks of the Siagne make a gentle walk that links the beaches, the town centre and the Capitou district.2
Port La Napoule and Port de la Rague are the two main harbours for a stroll along the quays. La Napoule Boat Show is held at Port La Napoule every April.4
