Chaves: Hotels & Evening Entertainment

Chaves lies along the valley of the river Tâmega in the district of Vila Real, in northern Portugal. The Romans made it a municipality in the year 79 under the emperor Vespasian and called it Aquae Flaviae; Trajan's Bridge and the thermal baths date from their rule. Its thermal waters, its cured ham and its meat pastries are what the regional tourism portal names as its main draws today. Hotel Casino Chaves and Casino Chaves form one complex at the entrance to the town, about 8 km from the Spanish border.
