Casino at Borgata

Overview

The casino is part of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa at 1 Borgata Way, in the Marina District of Atlantic City. The operator, MGM Resorts, describes the resort as offering guest rooms, a spa, entertainment, restaurants and a casino all under one roof. Bars and lounges open straight off the casino floor: B Bar stands on the floor itself, and the Sunroom, part of the MGM Tower lobby lounge, is a step away from it. The New Jersey Casino Control Commission lists the property as Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, with 2 July 2003 as its opening date. Age and identification

The Casino Control Act bars anyone under the age at which a person may buy and drink alcohol from entering a licensed casino in New Jersey. Such a person may pass through a casino on the way to another room.⁵

Licence and regulation

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission licenses Atlantic City's casinos, and the Division of Gaming Enforcement, a unit of the Attorney General's Office, regulates their operation. The Commission's list names Marina District Development Company, LLC as the casino licensee of Borgata, with MGM Resorts International as parent company. Under the Casino Control Act, casino licences are restricted to major hotel and convention facilities, so that casino rooms remain part of a hospitality property.^{2, 3, 4}
