Atlantic City: Hotels & Evening Entertainment

Atlantic City is a seaside resort on the coast of New Jersey. Its Boardwalk was first built in 1870, and the local tourism office describes it today as wooden and five miles (about 8 km) long, with a free beach alongside. Casino gaming was approved for Atlantic City alone by New Jersey voters in 1976, and state law restricts casino licences to major hotel and convention facilities, which is why every casino here is part of a hotel. The Casino Control Commission lists nine casino hotels. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City is on the Boardwalk; Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is in the bayside Marina District.
