Overview

Hotel Palácio Estoril is a five-star hotel in the centre of Estoril. Its outdoor pool and lawn lead down to the park, and the promenade at Tamariz beach is a short walk away. The national tourism register gives 1930 as its opening year. During the Second World War it sheltered European royal families who had fled to Estoril, and by the hotel's account British and German spies frequented its bar. The cast of the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service stayed here in 1968.^{2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13}

The national tourism register lists 129 rooms and 32 suites. They range from the Single Corporate Room of 18 square metres to the Palácio Deluxe Suite of 55 to 65 square metres. Rooms have air conditioning with an individual thermostat, a minibar, a safe and free Wi-Fi.^{6, 12}

Dining

The hotel lists five places to eat and drink. Grill Four Seasons opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. The Bougainvillea Terrace, with views of the pool, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Organic Caffè serves plant-based, meat and fish dishes during the day, and Bar Estoril is open daily from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Varanda do Estoril, at the Estoril Golf Course, is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.⁷

Wellness and leisure

The Estoril Wellness Center has an indoor pool at 34°C, a sauna, a hammam, a Turkish bath, sensation showers and a jacuzzi, as well as a gym with Technogym equipment and studios for group classes. Banyan Tree Spa Estoril, open every day from 7.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., offers massages and facials based on Asian traditions. The minimum age for the spa is 16, or 12 when accompanied by an adult. The outdoor pool in the garden is open from 15 April to 31 October, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.^{1, 8, 9}

Getting there

By the hotel's account, Lisbon is about 30 minutes away by car, and Estoril can also be reached from Lisbon by train. Parking is available for hotel guests.²
