Casino Barrière Deauville

Overview

Casino Barrière Deauville faces the sea in the centre of town. The Barrière group dates its opening to the summer of 1912, and the Normandy tourist board notes that it stands on the site of the resort's first casino, opened in 1864. The building holds an Italian-style theatre modelled on the Petit Trianon theatre at Versailles, a gala hall called the Salon des Ambassadeurs and an auditorium. The casino's restaurants and bars page lists Le Cercle, Le Plaza Café and the O2 Sofa Bar. The red and gold interior is the work of Jacques Garcia, according to the tourist board.^{2, 4, 9, 12, 13}

Opening hours

The casino opens at 10 a.m. every day. It closes at 2 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday, at 3 a.m. on Friday nights and at 4 a.m. on Saturday nights.¹

Admission

Entry is free, according to the Calvados tourist board. Access to the casino is reserved for adults who are not barred from gambling, and visitors show a valid identity document. The restaurant Le Cercle lies inside the casino, so its guests go through the same identity check.^{3, 10, 11, 14}

Age and identification

The casino admits adults only. Its website carries the notice "Interdit aux moins de 18 ans" (no admission under 18), and Barrière states that access is reserved for persons of legal age who are not barred from gambling, on presentation of a valid identity document.^{1, 10}

Licence and regulation

The Barrière group runs the casino under a public service delegation granted by the town of Deauville. According to the group, the town renewed this delegation for eighteen years on 19 December 2025. France's gambling regulator, the Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), handles requests for voluntary gambling bans; a ban bars entry to casinos and gaming clubs and lasts at least three years.
