Saint-Vincent: Hotels & Evening Entertainment

Saint-Vincent is a spa town in the Aosta Valley, at an altitude of 575 metres. The regional tourist board calls it the Riviera of the Alps: sheltered from cold winds, it has a climate mild enough for palms, olive trees and umbrella pines. It has drawn visitors since the end of the 18th century, first for its thermal waters and later for its casino, which opened in 1947 inside the Grand Hôtel Billia.

Visitor information

Things to do during the day

  • The parish church of San Vincenzo was built by the Benedictines in the 11th century in the Romanesque style, over the remains of a Roman building. Its oldest frescoes date from 1416, and its crypt has capitals from the 8th century. A museum shows sculptures and other works from the 15th to the 18th century.1, 2
  • The Saint-Vincent thermal spa grew up around a spring discovered in 1770 and named Fons Salutis, the spring of health. The present complex has indoor and outdoor pools, three saunas, a Turkish bath and a terrace with three hot tubs. It is open all year round, booking is required and children are admitted from the age of 10.3
  • The museum of mineralogy and palaeontology holds almost 750 minerals and 170 fossils, from the Aosta Valley and from around the world.1
  • In summer the town can be explored on foot along the ru, old irrigation canals, by rented e-bike or on horseback. Old mule tracks lead from the centre to small churches, such as the one at Moron, and to hill hamlets.1
  • The Col de Joux, 15 km away, is a viewpoint between the central valley and the Ayas Valley, used in winter for easy walks and snowshoe hikes.1
